Center for Educational Partnerships
The Center for Educational Partnerships comprises all school- and student-centered outreach programs conducted by UC Merced, including the UC Scholars Early Academic Outreach Program, the School/University Partnership Program and the Community Teaching Fellowships in Math and Science. Small Business Development Center Regional Network
The UC Merced SBDC Regional Network helps small businesses develop, expand and succeed in our 15 county Central California region. Services offered free of charge to small business owners and budding entrepreneurs include one-on-one consulting, technical assistance on loan packaging and dissemination of business information. Training workshops and conferences are offered for a minimal fee. Topics include marketing, advertising, cash flow management, business plan management and human resource law. Summer Sessions
UC Merced's Summer Session comprises an assortment of upper and lower division courses for UC credit. The courses are presented at UC Merced's educational centers in Merced, Fresno and Bakersfield for the benefit of students in the San Joaquin Valley. All courses are taught by highly qualified faculty from UC campuses and other local institutions of higher education. UC College Prep Initiative
The UC College Prep Initiative (UCCP) provides online college preparatory courses to high school students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to become eligible or competitively eligible for admission to the University of California. UCCP offers free access to online college preparatory courses to schools that otherwise are not able to provide adequate advanced placement (AP) and honors curriculum to their students. With support from UC Merced, UCCP currently serves more than a thousand students in the Central San Joaquin Valley, including Inyo and Mono counties. For more details, call (559) 241-7417.

UC Berkeley, Lawrence Hall of Science
Great Explorations in Math and Science (GEMS)
Developed at UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science, GEMS is a leading resource for innovative science and mathematics education. GEMS publishes over 70 teacher's guides and handbooks, offers specialized workshop opportunities, and maintains a national network of teacher-training sites and centers that provide a wide range of supplementary learning experiences for preschool through eighth grade. With support from UC Merced, many hundreds of area teachers and thousands of local students are served at the Fresno center.

UC Davis
University of California Educational Research Center (UCERC)
Established in 1994, UCERC supports educational research and development activities in the San Joaquin Valley and complements the UC Davis/California State University, Fresno Joint Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership. Linked with other UC partners, the Educational Research Center uses research, public service and outreach to meet the needs of the valley's educational community by providing support, professional development, seminars, and links with educators, faculty, and practitioners.

UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program
The UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program is a major branch of the UC San Francisco School of Medicine. UCSF Fresno offers medical education and training for students, residents and fellows, as well as broad continuing education opportunities.

California Border Health Education and Training (HETC) Program
California Border HETC is a federally funded program that seeks to improve access to health care for California's Hispanic population who live near the US-Mexico border. The program works with community-based organizations in the southern half of the state to identify and implement health promotion and training activities to enhance the health of selected communities.

California Area Health Education Center (AHEC)
California AHEC funds and coordinates community-based educational activities for health professionals. Many of the state's medical and nursing schools participate by helping to prepare physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and others for future practice in medically underserved communities.

Latino Center for Medical Education and Research
The Latino Center addresses the persistent shortage and under representation of Latino physicians in the practice community and teaching faculty at medical schools. The center seeks to increase the number of Latino physicians in Central California by: assisting local Latino students to compete successfully for medical school admission; attracting Latino medical students to clerkships and eventually residency training in Central California; and preparing Latino physicians to serve as faculty and researchers to study primary health care issues of importance to Latinos in the Fresno area.

UC Office of the President
University Affairs Division
The University Affairs, Strategic Communications office in Fresno promotes public awareness and support for UC programs and public policy positions in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne Counties. The Fresno staff responds to inquiries from the public and media regarding UC, maintains the "UC In the Valley" web site and produces "UC-Valley Connection," a quarterly newsletter that provides the latest information about UC activities in the San Joaquin Valley.

Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources Public Information Office
The UC Agriculture and Natural Resources Central Valley Region Public Information Office supports UC Cooperative Extension in 17 Valley counties - stretching from Kern County to Tehama County - with public information consulting, news media liaison and news writing services. The office also serves the public information needs of the UC Kearney Agricultural Center and its 25 faculty, plus the Lindcove, West Side and Shafter research and extension centers in the San Joaquin Valley, and the UC Davis-based Small Farm Program and Agricultural Issues Center.

State Center Community College District

The Center for International Trade Development is one of 14 offices throughout California and is funded through the Economic Development Network, ED>Net. The offices are hosted through the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s office. The overall purpose is to enhance the competitive strength of local businesses in the international marketplace and support international trade development within the San Joaquin Valley.

The State Center Consortium is a dynamic community partnership designed to provide college and career preparation opportunities for all students and lifelong learners within Fresno, Madera and Mariposa Counties. Present partners in the Consortium include: area businesses, K-12 schools, community organizations, government agencies, local community colleges, parents and students, local universities, county offices of education and organized labor.

  • Children and Families Commission of Fresno Co. (First 5)
    Born from the passage of Proposition 10, The Children and Families Act of 1998, the Commission uses funds from increased tobacco excise taxes to provide resources for early childhood development and smoking prevention and cessation programs. "Putting Children First" embodies the spirit that the Commission uses to provide quality resources for families to draw upon in the formative years of development.
Latino Issues Forum

Latino Issues Forum (LIF) is a non-profit public policy and advocacy institute dedicated to advancing new and innovative public policy solutions for a better, more equitable and prosperous society. Established in 1987, LIF's primary focus is on the broader issues of access to higher education, economic development, health care, citizenship, regional development, telecommunications issues and regulatory issues.

The mission of the Hmong Cultural Heritage Center and Museum is to preserve Hmong cultural heritage, work ethic, creativity and loyalty to family and community and to promote the education, health and culture of Hmong people from Southeast Asia so that each may become productive members of society. Classes are offered in English and Hmong language, computer literacy, health and nutrition. The Center also offers workshops, performances, exhibits of traditional Hmong music, dance, and arts and crafts which are open to the public.
