UCSF Fresno to present lecture on depression and anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum, Fresno

Depression and anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum is a silent epidemic profoundly affecting one in six women and their families. UCSF Fresno, Community Medical Centers and the March of Dimes will present a lecture on what everyone needs to know about depression and anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum. The lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 26, from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research, located at 155 No. Fresno St. The event is open to the public and will be of particular benefit to healthcare professionals as well provide valuable information for new mothers and women who are currently pregnant or thinking about pregnancy. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s Science Education Program will present, “Greenhouse Gas Reduction: Underground Storage of Carbon Dioxide”, a Science on Saturday lecture to be held on March 1, at the Bankhead Theater, located at 2400 First Street in Livermore. Starting time for Session I is 9:30 a.m. and for Session II, 11:15 a.m. Science on Saturday is a five-week series of lectures and demonstrations intended for middle and high school students. UCCE Master Gardeners to present Smart Gardening seminar, Fresno

UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners is offering a one-day Smart Gardening seminar to be held at the UC Center, Fresno on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Seminar topics include: Smart Irrigation; Rare Fruit and Nut Trees; A Celebration of Lavender; Home Orchards for Small Spaces; and Chicks and the City. Additional topics include presentations on Valley-friendly garden design and selecting perennials, herbs, bulbs and annuals that can be grown successfully in the Valley. UC wildfire experts gather for 2-day conference
Feb. 19, Riverside - Wildfire and natural resources specialists from UC Berkeley and UC Riverside, and UC Cooperative Extension natural resources advisors from the Sierra foothills and Lake Tahoe area south to San Diego will gather for a conference to focus on key aspects of California fires, such as preventing fire damage, recovering from fires and assessing their impact. Governor's budget proposes cuts to address deficit
Jan. 10, Oakland- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today (Jan. 10) proposed a 2008-09 state budget that includes across-the-board cuts in state spending, including at the University of California, to address a projected $14.5 billion state budget deficit. The proposal would increase funding under his 'compact' with the UC system but then apply a reduction of 10 percent. |
