UC Center Community ArtReach presents distinctive gathering of fine art photography

FRESNO - The UC Center, Fresno’s summer Community ArtReach show will feature an exhibit of fine art photography entitled “Artistic Vision: A Dozen Points of View.” The unique exhibit will open with a public reception on ArtHop night Thursday, June 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the center, located at 550 E. Shaw Avenue, across from Fashion Fair Mall in Fresno.

“Artistic Vision: A Dozen Points of View” showcases a distinctive gathering of pictures in an array of techniques, formats, styles and subject matter by 12 of the San Joaquin Valley’s most noted fine art photographers. Photographers include: David Ashcraft, Jon Bock, Gary Christiansen, Carolyn De Anda, Steve Dzerigian, Suzanne Lawson, Mimi Mann, Richard Milhorn, Mike Phillips, Terrance Reimer, Scott Shaver, and Heidi Vetter.

“This exhibit represents a wonderfully diverse array of artistic viewpoints that is both unexpected and provocative,” notes Jeanie Smith, Community ArtReach coordinator and exhibit curator. “Some of the work is stunningly beautiful; some of it is dark and mysterious.

“All of the work takes the viewer to new places,” adds Smith.

“Through photography, artists are able to observe, record and comment on the natural beauty of our landscapes; the history and diversity of our culture and beliefs, and sometimes the deterioration of our society and environment,” comments nationally known photographer David Ashcraft. “The combination of viewpoints presented in this dynamic group exhibit is fascinating and powerful.

“I am very pleased to be a part of it,” says Ashcraft.

The free exhibit will be presented on two floors and is open to the public during UC Center business hours. The show runs through August 3.

Community ArtReach is a fine art exhibit presented as a public service to San Joaquin Valley residents by UC Merced and the UC Office of the President with support from participating artists and community volunteers.
