UC Merced to initiate academic exchange program with Communication University of China (CUC)

What: Signing of Memorandum of Understanding to initiate UC Merceds first Academic Exchange Program

Who:  Carol Tomlinson-Keasey, Chancellor, University of California, Merced, Liu Jinan, President, Communication University of China, other university administrators and staff members

When: Thursday, April 14, 2005, 2 p.m.

Where: Granite Conference Room, Mondo Building, 1715 Canal St., Merced

Why: To promote exchanges of students, faculty members, academic publications and materials between UC Merced and CUC

UC Merced and CUC plan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, each agreeing to send students, faculty and teaching staff, books and academic materials to the other university. The two institutions will also agree to collaborate in organizing academic conferences on issues of mutual concern and interest and to make reciprocal visits over the next three years, after which the universities may choose to renew the agreement. The document will be signed in duplicate in Chinese and English.

Reporters and photographers are invited to witness this event and interact with university administrators. Visual opportunities will include exchange of gifts and signing of MOU.
