FALL COMMUNITY ARTREACH EXHIBIT FEATURES DYNAMIC PAINTINGS BY DONNALEE
DUNNE
FRESNO - The UC Center, Fresno will hold its opening reception
for the fall Community ArtReach exhibit on ArtHop night, Thursday,
Sept. 2. from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited and light
refreshments will be served.
The latest exhibit features a collection
of more than 40, two- and three-dimensional mixed-media paintings,
by Donnalee Dunne.
The body of work titled Quintessence 2: Connection and Communication
represents Dunne’s vision of language and communication between
earth and the universe through energy, gravity and magnetism. The
work ranges from pieces of ethereal beauty in vibrant colors on
flowing silk to dark, organic shapes and forms created from salvaged
materials. Some pieces in the collection have a connection to modern
technology while others are free form and dream-like. The end result
is visually dynamic and poetic.
Other art on display includes paintings by Vincente Aiello, Gail
Evans, Linda Koch and Barbara Van Arnam; photographic media by
Jonathan Bock; mixed-media, collage and ink paintings by Don Parkey;
and raku and pit-fired clay pieces by Geoffrey Spach.
The Art Through Their Eyes Gallery of
students’ work contains
a collection of finely detailed color pencil artwork created by
Sunnyside High School student Bee Vue.
Community ArtReach is presented as part
of the University of California’s
commitment to public service in the San Joaquin Valley. The program
is a collaborative effort by UC Office of the President and UC
Merced staff members, community volunteers and participating artists.
The program’s aim is to support and encourage the creativity
of Valley artists and present fine works of art to the community.
The exhibit will run through Nov. 4 and
is open to the public free of charge during the UC Center’s
business hours. The UC Center is located at 550 East Shaw Ave.
