Fresno offers series of family health tips during October
FRESNO
- The month of October is National Family Health Month. During the
first four Tuesdays in October, from 7pm to 8pm, the University
of California, San Francisco, Fresno Medical Education Program (UCSF
Fresno) will present Family Health Today, a medical lecture series
open to the public.
The
lecture series will be held at the Fresno Borders in River Park.
The first lecture, on October 1, titled Saving Face, From Botox®
to Retinol - What Really Works, is presented by Regina Hamlin, MD,
Clinical Professor of Medicine, UCSF Fresno. Hamlin will perform
a live Botox® demonstration during her lecture.
The
lecture series continues the following Tuesday, October 8, from
7 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Peter T. Simonian, MD, Clinical Professor
of Orthopaedic Surgery, UCSF Fresno. Simonian will present a lecture
titled The Weekend Warrior, Knee Injuries - What to Do Next. Simonian
is the Fresno Grizzlies team doctor. He recently joined UCSF Fresno’s
faculty from the University of Washington, where he served as team
doctor to the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Huskies.
On
Tuesday, October 15, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Michael W. Peterson,
MD, VMC Foundation Endowed Chair of Medicine, UCSF Fresno, will
present Take a Deep Breath - Effective Asthma Care for Kids. During
his lecture Peterson will involve the audience in a live asthma
demonstration.
On
Tuesday, October 22, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Alex C. Sherriffs, MD,
Associate Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine, UCSF
Fresno, will present My Memories? Alzheimer’s and DementiaA
Family’s Survival Kit.
The
lecture series is free and open to the public. For attendees, dessert
