APPLICATION
Workshops set for Bakersfield, Modesto
and Fresno
FRESNO - The University of California, Merced’s
Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools and Colleges will
hold free workshops to assist students with completing the UC application
for undergraduate admission. Students who are considering applying
to University of California campuses for admission during fall 2003
are encouraged to attend.
Workshops for high school seniors and their parents
will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the following
locations:
- Bakersfield UC Center, 2000 K Street, at 20th
and K streets.
- Modesto Johansen High School, 641 Norseman
Drive, on Claus between Scenic and Yosemite streets.
Workshops for high school seniors, transfer students
and their parents will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Wednesday,
Nov. 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the following location:
- Fresno UC Center, 550 E. Shaw Ave., across
from Fashion Fair Mall.
UC advisers will guide students through the
application process and offer suggestions on writing an effective
personal statement. The personal statement is an important part
of the UC application and is required of all applicants. The university
uses the personal statement to learn more about the experiences
and accomplishments of students who are applying for admission.
The application-filing period for fall 2003 undergraduate
admission to the University of California is Nov. 1
through Nov. 30, 2002.
For more information or to register for one of
the workshops, please call (559) 241-7474.
