UC OFFERS FREE WORKSHOP ON ADMISSIONS APPLICATION
Workshop to be held this Saturday in Bakersfield

FRESNO – The University of California, Merced and University of California, Santa Barbara will hold a free workshop on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the UC Center (2000 K Street) in Bakersfield to assist students with completing the UC application for undergraduate admission.

Students who are considering applying to University of California campuses for admission during fall 2003 are encouraged to attend. Parents also are welcome to participate.

UC advisers from the Early Academic Outreach Programs and Admissions/Relations with Schools and Colleges will answer questions about the application process and offer suggestions on writing an effective personal statement. The personal statement is an important part of the UC application and is required of all applicants. The university uses the personal statement to learn more about the experiences and accomplishments of students who are applying for admission.

The application-filing period for fall 2003 undergraduate admission to the University of California is Nov. 1 through Dec. 2, 2002.

For more information or to register for the workshop, please call (661) 861-7947.
