California Children's 5 a Day-Power Play! poster contest
winner to view her billboard this Thursday
FRESNO
- Family and friends will join ten-year-old Marci Thiessen of Reedley
when she views her winning artwork on a billboard high above Manning
Avenue, tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 15. They plan to arrive at the
billboard site, 375 feet south of the Kings River on the west side
of Manning Avenue at 10 a.m.
Thiessen
won the privilege of seeing her artwork on a local billboard for
one month in a poster contest sponsored by the California Children's
5 a Day-Power Play! Campaign. The University of California Cooperative
Extension administers the program in Fresno.
The
campaign encourages children ages 9 to 11 to eat at least 5 servings
of fruits and vegetables daily. Thiessen's colorful poster depicts
an image of herself balancing a bowl of fruit and vegetables. The
poster reads: “Here’s To My Health.”
As
part of the prize package, Thiessen also won a helmet and new bike,
which she will ride to the billboard site on Thursday.
