UC FAMILY DAY SHOWCASES UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA PROGRAMS AND SERVICES IN THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY

FRESNO - The UC Merced Office of Relations with Schools invites residents of all ages to UC Family Day on Saturday, May 12, 2001. Families will learn more about the University of California and its many contributions to the San Joaquin Valley.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the UC Center, Fresno, 550 E. Shaw Ave., across from Fashion Fair Mall. It is free and open to the public.

UC Family Day will showcase UC programs ranging from education to agriculture and health care, with representatives on hand to provide information about the educational opportunities available at UC's 10 campuses - Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz.

The day will also feature complimentary refreshments, live entertainment and children's activities.

For more than a century, the University of California has contributed greatly to the San Joaquin Valley, its people, and its local economy. UC offers a wide variety of unparalleled educational, health care and agricultural programs in the region and conducts valuable research. Equally important, the university is helping to better prepare valley students for college and expand their access to an affordable UC education.
