UC CENTER, FRESNO DISPLAYS FINE WORKS OF ART AS PART OF ONGOING EXHIBIT

Inaugural reception will be held Thursday

FRESNO - As part of its commitment to public service in the San Joaquin Valley, the University of California offers a wide variety of services, resources and information to Valley residents through the UC Center, Fresno.

One example is Community ArtReach, an ongoing exhibit of fine art by distinguished San Joaquin Valley artists. An inaugural reception for the exhibit will be held Thursday, April 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the UC Center, Fresno, 550 E. Shaw Ave., across from Fashion Fair Mall.

Artists will be available to answer questions about their work, and light refreshments will be served.

This week's reception and future ArtReach evening events will be held in conjunction with the Fresno Arts Council's ArtHop nights, the first Thursday of each month. The exhibit is also open to the public during normal UC Center, Fresno operating hours.

Artists whose work is currently on exhibit at the UC Center, Fresno, include: Gretchen Allen, Juana Almaguer, Shannon Bickford, Jim Curnyn, Sally Delap-John, George Flint, Elizabeth Govreau, Richard Haas, Patti Handley, John Lucas, Buffy Morris, Randall Plaugher, H. J. Smith, Georgine Sullivan, and Joyce Tuck.

The work includes oil, watercolor and mixed media paintings, and color and black-and-white photography.

Community ArtReach is a collaborative effort by University of California staff members at the UC Center, Fresno, and Buffy Morris of Morris & Co. Fine Art in Fresno. The program's aim is to support and encourage the creativity of Valley artists and expose the community to fine works of art. For more information about Community ArtReach, please call 559-241-7510.
