Expanding Educational
Opportunities in the Central Valley
The University of California
is launching a comprehensive effort to ensure that students from
diverse backgrounds and underserved areas of California are academically
prepared for college in general and the University of California
in particular. The establishment of a tenth campus in the Central
Valley and the UCM Modesto Center are just two of many new initiatives
intended to increase college-going rates.
While there is a lot that UC can do, an important ingredient in
students’ academic success is the active involvement of the community
in which they live. UC Merced Chancellor Carol Tomlinson-Keasey
and Vice President Alex Saragoza will be speaking at the following
University of California events:
