UC in the Valley

The San Joaquin Valley is one of the richest agricultural areas in the world. Much of that success can be traced to the influence of the University of California's research and extension programs. Administered through the statewide Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR), UC takes scientific discoveries from research laboratories at its campuses and research centers, tests them in the field, then adapts and shares the results with local farmers and ranchers through UC Cooperative Extension county offices.

Four of UC's ten research and extension centers are located in the Valley - along with ten UC Cooperative Extension county offices from San Joaquin and Tuolumne Counties in the north to Kern County in the south. The San Joaquin Valley is also home to two UC Davis veterinary programs that produce work and research of benefit to Valley residents and consumers nationwide.
